Describe the business exchange

Start with the business event that requires information to move. Identify the sending and receiving processes, the expected outcome and the conditions under which the handoff should occur.

Readiness checklist

• Data meaning and mappingDocument required fields, business definitions, transformations and validation rules.
• Timing and duplicationAgree when information should move and how repeated exchanges should be handled.

Expected output

Prepare an interface inventory, an initial mapping and an ownership list. Record dependencies that still require confirmation, including access, sample data and operational support. Use the brief to validate both the expected exchange and the recovery process before agreeing the implementation scope.
